Words cannot express how much Bro. Spencer impacted my life. He led me to Christ in my younger years, saw me off to Vietnam, greeted me joyously back from Vietnam, married Jan and me, and remained a life long friend and neighbor. He was a warrior for the Lord and will be greatly missed.

I have such wonderful memories of your dad and your entire family. The years we spent with you in Medora are a treasure in my heart. I have everlasting friendship with Patty. It has lasted for over 50 years. Ward always meant so much to me. He led me to Christ 57 years ago and talking and praying with him seems like yesterday. It broke my heart to hear of his passing. Yet, I know my mom and daddy welcomed him in heaven. You're all have my love and are in my thoughts and prayers.

As I think back to years ago at Mt. Pleasant, I can see Ward always having a smile on his face. I can also remember Dorothy and Ward always working side by side with everyone in the church. They never stood back and just watched. They were not only our pastors, but they were also our friends. What wonderful memories of the entire Spencer family. I'm sure Heaven is having a huge celebration with the wonderful people who have left us. Our loss here on earth is Heaven's gain. My heartfelt sympathy to the Spencer family.

Bro. Spencer was my pastor at Ashland Ave. during my senior high and early college years. He was a wonderful man and a great pastor. We recently crossed paths again as my sister and brother-in-law lived two apartments down from him. I enjoyed our talks, catching up on the present and reminiscing about the past. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to see him again! I know all of you will miss him deeply. Praying for you. Linda (Parsley) Proudfit

My heart aches for the Spencer family to lose in death your precious loved one Mr. Lyle. Words are so limited that can give comfort, so I would like to share with you beautiful scripture where our heavenly Father, Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18), invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Psalm 34:18 None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection. Our savior, Jesus, said: John 6: 40; "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day". Jesus also said: John 5: 28; "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out..." John 11:23-25; "Jesus said to her: "I am the resurrection and the life." The one who exercises faith in me, even tho he dies, will come to life." I pray that Jesus's promise to reunite us with our loved ones on resurrection day will carry you through the difficult days ahead and gradually replace your tears of grief with tears of joy as you reflect on your precious memories of happier times with Mr. Lyle.
