My deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your mother and grandmother, my Aunt Edie. There was no one to match Edith’s patient and sweet disposition. I will always be grateful that Edith embraced Molly, my daughter, and me when we were struggling to settle in East Lansing, Michigan during my graduate school years. Edith always added a smile and a sense of calm to those around her. I know she loved irises, especially yellow irises. Every time I see a yellow iris I will send loving thoughts to all of you and to her memory and her contribution to the quality of both my and my daughter’s life.
