Billie Waddell, 72, passed away at his daughter’s residence in Elsmere, KY on Friday, March 6, 2015. Billie was a retired Civil Engineer, retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad, and the first appointed Railroad Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era, a life-long member of the Central Church of the Nazarene, a Kentucky Colonel, a NKYFL Hall of Fame Member. He also received a lifetime appreciate award from Dixie Heights High School (known as the voice of Dixie Heights High School football). Billie was an avid storyteller, owning such a wonderful sense of humor, and filled with charisma and charm. He absolutely never met a stranger and was a friend to so many. Billie enjoyed a love of sports throughout his life and served as coach and mentor to many young boys through the Northern Ky. Youth Football League. Billie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean Waddell. He is survivied by his daughters, Cindy (Mark) Sorrell, Becky (Jim) Rogers, Kristy Molony, Linda Moloney, Nancy (Shane) Kendall, JoHannah (Christian) Rosevear, sons, Billy (Stefanie) Waddell, and Jeff Waddell. 23 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia, KY on Monday, March 9th, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 2006 Pieck Drive, Ft Wright, KY 41011. Internment and Honor Guard Service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY. Memorials are suggested to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I was saddened to see that Coach Waddell passed this past Friday. He will definitely be missed. I have so many found memories of him & tell stories to my son quite often that are centered around him & the Bengal Tigers. I wish I could be there to show my respects. Give Everyone a hug from me!
