James R. Thelen, 89, of Covington, KY, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of St. Agnes Parish. James was a 1953 graduate of Holy Cross High School and a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. He was a retired sales representative, a member of the Friendly Aces and was active in the founding of Hut A/C. James was preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen M. Thelen; parents: Raymond and Ethel Thelen; daughter: Jami Leininger and her surviving spouse: Marty Leininger. He is survived by his children: Jeff (Kathleen) Thelen, Jodi (Tom) Fahey and Juli (Jerry) Roe; siblings: Jeannine (late: Don) Ives and Jack (late: Carol) Thelen; 11 grandchildren; 1 late grandson and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 10:30 AM until the Catholic Prayer Service at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015. Entombment will follow at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, KY. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society c/o cancer.org.
