John Earl Dorman, 87, of Florence, KY passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home. John was a 53 year member of the Florence Baptist Church, Bradford Masonic Lodge, Past President of League of Kentucky Sportsman and also a Kentucky Colonel. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.II and then with the Army Reserves. John was the Football and Track coach at Boone County High School and Athletic Director at Boone County High School. He was an All-State Football player at Dixie Heights High School and Played at the University of Kentucky under Bear Bryant and then played 3 years at Eastern Kentucky University. John was an avid Fisherman, Hunter and Outdoorsman. John is preceded in death by his Parents John Carlton Dorman and Jeannette Pelstring Dorman and Brother James Dorman. He is survived by his Loving Wife of 57 years: Grace M. Turner Dorman; Sons: John William (Katherine) Dorman and Todd (Karen) Dorman; Daughter: Lisa Kaye (Darryl) Holmes, Grandchildren: Nick and Joseph Dorman, Jenna (Ryan) McGovern and Micah Holmes. Visitation will be at the Florence Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2013. Played football for Mr Dorman in 59 and 60. What a great teacher, mentor and friend to us all. Many wonderful memories of him. So enjoyed knowing him and learning a lot about life from him.
