July 14, 1937 - April 1, 2025
Margaret "Peggy" M. Ackermann passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 to be reunited with her late husband, Jack. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and protector of anyone and everyone. Once, when she was in the fourth grade, she had a physical "discussion" with the older neighborhood bully who often gave the kids a hard time. Most of all she was a proud nurse. She spent her entire career as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth, from nursing school to retirement, and always on the night shift. Peggy worked in all departments of St. E's original north location and ended up as night shift nursing supervisor. She always felt that her mission was to protect her nurses as the nurses were already protecting the patients so they were in good hands. Peggy was a musician and an athlete. She played the clarinet, accordion and the organ. After retirement she spent many days on the golf course with her besties. There were many mornings of water aerobics, followed by the "hot box" as the friends called the sauna, and then they were off to Panera for therapy. One of her favorite places was the library where she always left with at least 4 books. She loved to have family visit or even better, go out to eat with them as she was trying to protect the kitchen from overuse. Dale Hollow Lake was a beloved destination for many years. Though Peggy loved to travel, she was always ready to come home. Peggy was a long-time member of St Anthony Parish in Taylor Mill, KY. For many years she enjoyed being a lector at mass. She put her nursing skills to use for the parish members whenever needed. Her church was a safe place filled with love and more friends. She will be missed by all. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband: John "Jack" B. Ackermann and brother: Larry (living: Cheryl) Lang. She is survived by her children: Peggy (Jay) Fleisch, Amy (late: Rick) Scott, Tom (Paula) Ackermann and Jill (Chuck) Johnston; siblings: Phyllis (Bill) Stevens, Dan (Joann) Lang and Alice (Bob) Thomas; grandchildren: Tiffany Taylor, Logan (Shayla) Ackermann, Meri Fleisch and Jake Perriman; great-grandchildren: Michael and Anna and several nieces and nephews. A Nurse's Honor Guard Service will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:50 AM, followed by the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Church, 485 Grand Avenue, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Anthony Church, (Fleming Hall) following Mass from 12:00 PM (Noon) until 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family at Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright, KY. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Church, 485 Grand Avenue, Taylor Mill, KY 41015 and/or St. Elizabeth Healthcare Hospice, 483 South Loop Road, Edgewood, KY 41017. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Covington (Latonia), KY 41015 is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at www.connleybrothersfuneralhome.com
